As a third-generation family-owned company, each day revolves around our family as we make good food for your family. At the center of all of this are our mothers, and in our case they are the pillars of our business and our family. As we honor our own mothers and yours as well, we wanted to help you with some extra, delicious pampering of these amazing women on Mother’s Day.
There is no better way to make a mother feel special than having little hands to help prepare a delicious meal for Mom, and we’ve come up with some tips to share for Mother’s Day and every day. We even reached out to our friend, Portland, Oregon-based restaurant owner and award-winning celebrity chef Cathy Whims to create a recipe for the most aspiring young chefs: Nancy’s Cream Cheese and Parmesan Sformato (flan). So join us as we bring all ages of family helpers on board for some Mother’s Day festivities…now, let’s get cooking!
TIPS FOR 3- TO 6-YEAR OLDS
These folks are always enthusiastic helpers. Let them stand at the sink to rinse greens, scrub vegetables, wash berries, or measure liquids. On dry land, let them try buttering the pan and stirring. They can help build the layers for this beautiful Oatmilk Non-Dairy Yogurt Parfait and will beam with pride at their delicious masterpiece!
TIPS FOR 7- TO 10-YEAR-OLDS
Measuring ingredients is fun and educational, since many recipes use fractions, and most kids have plenty of experience kneading rolling and sculpting play dough! This age group could certainly master our Savory Biscuit recipe with a patient adult’s help.
TIPS FOR TWEENS AND TEENS
Ah, the age of expertise. Let them learn the same kitchen skills you have. Knives, blenders, hotplates and open flame are facts of life and young people can learn how to work with them safely and your watchful eye. With a bit of guidance, this Cream Cheese and Parmesan Sformato is within their culinary reach and a rewarding and delicious dish.
We hope your family of cooks finds your own special way to honor mom this year. If you do choose any of these recipes, (or others here) you have indeed cared for mom’s heart as well as her gut and immune health, with the beneficial probiotics offered in Nancy’s Probiotic Foods. So, breakfast in bed this Mother’s Day is a great way to show your love for Mom, from the inside out!
